Two horror markets

This one's just a quick post, I don't have much free time this weekend. Always something to do, somewhere to go. The busy life of a nonfamous copier repairman/writer.

Anyway, here are a couple horror markets:

- Oddlands Magazine: A monthly speculative fiction webzine, they pay 1 cent per word for fiction and $10 for art or poetry. Duotrope reports them as having an average response time of 44 days.

- The Monsters Next Door: A bi-monthly webzine looking for fiction revolving around something or someone "monstrous." The editors accept simultaneous submissions and reprints, but this is a non-paying market.

Also, if anyone knows where to get a copy of Johnny Baranski's Pencil Flowers: Jail Haiku, I would very much appreciate it. I've been trying to find it for months and can't find a copy anywhere.

I'll check out the links. I've never seen a copy of that haiku work, though.

Greg:

The Baranski book doesn't seem to have left a trace anywhere. Nothing in abebooks, alibris, amazon uk ... I searched completed listings, all countries, all regions, and it appears never to have sold on Ebay.

There are 11 libraries in the country that have it, according to WorldCat:

US,CA CALIFORNIA STATE LIBR
US,CA LOS ANGELES PUB LIBR
US,DC LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
US,DE UNIV OF DELAWARE
US,HI UNIV OF HAWAII AT MANOA
US,IL UNIV OF ST MARY OF THE LAKE
US,MS DELTA STATE UNIV
US,NY NEW YORK PUB LIBR RES LIBR
US,OH DENISON UNIV
US,RI BROWN UNIV
US,TX HOUSTON PUB LIBR

If you just want to read it, you could try interlibrary loaning it from one of these libraries through your local library. Since it is so rare, it may be tough to get but somebody might lend it.

A tough one, indeed.

Charles, good luck with those magazines. I've submitted to Oddlands but haven't heard back yet.

Don, thanks for checking! I didn't think about interlibrary loaning. I'll definitely try that. I read Baranski's "Poems from Prison" and it was a great little collection.
