Thanks to Ralan's market report, I found out about this site last week. Shadow Forest Authors is a group devoted to fighting illiteracy, and they have partnered with book-related charities around the world.
"Our mission at SFA, to encourage every author worldwide and from every genre to donate just one copy of their title to fill a void in reading materials and get both paperback books and e-books where they are urgently needed."
To encourage authors to donate a copy of their book, Shadow Forest Authors will list your book on their website, with a link for people to purchase it. It's easy to help... all you have to do is send a copy of your book (or as many copies as you want) to one of their beneficiaries (listed on the main page) and mention that you're sending it on behalf of Shadow Forest Authors. If you've got an extra copy of your book laying around, it's a great cause.
In other news, The Ugly Tree has ceased publication. If you're looking to pick up a copy of the final issue, they can be bought for £4.00 each.
And for your short horror reading pleasure, the new issue of Micro 100 is now online. It features two very dark stories by Will Spires and AD Dawson, and a tale from Mark Crittenden about an idea that I'm sure a lot of us have thought about once or twice.
